T-Shirt Sea-Watch 3 x Ai Weiwei Unisex Purple

T-Shirt Sea-Watch 3 x Ai Weiwei Unisex Purple

SKU: SW30-022
Category: Shirts

In June 2019, the Sea-Watch 3 rescued 59 people in distress at sea. The Italian government denied the people their right to disembark. The ship remained for 15 days off the island of Lampedusa, until the captain Carola Rackete forced the blockade, entering port and bringing the people to safety.

We dedicate this limited edition shirt to the Sea-Watch 3, which we had to say goodbye to a year ago.

Design: Ai Weiwei (he/him) aiweiwei.com / @aiww on X and Instagram
material: 100% organic cotton

the message behind the design
The origin of the T-shirt is rooted in the refugee crisis. Since the refugee crisis in Europe in 2015, the number of refugees, both in the Middle East and Europe, has significantly increased. Given the ongoing political and social developments, it is highly probable that more wars will lead to a rise in global refugee populations. I believe that organisations like Sea-Watch, dedicated to rescuing refugees, have made commendable efforts. Through this collaboration, I aim to raise awareness about the humanitarian crises we are confronting.
